Trailer Hitch Compatible with 2017 Subaru Impreza 5 Door Hatchback Wagon
Question:
I am looking for a trailer hitch for my 2017 Subaru Impreza 5 door hatchback. When I follow the links from your main page, I reach https://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2017_Subaru_Impreza.htm?style=5-Door+Wagon+with+Single+Exhaust Which lists two options, a Draw Tight 24959 or Curt C11465. Also, you identify different hitches for a 2018 Subaru. I have not double checked, but it was my understanding the frame did not change since the 2017 model year was the first one for a new chassis which was going to be used for all future models - not just Imprezas. Can you check with your suppliers and let me know which units actually fit? Also, note that the Curt models require a support strap. However that would require the strap to put pressure on the very flimsy mini-spoiler on the top of the hatch back. Other sources say carriers requiring such a support strap cannot be used on vehicles with a spoiler. Can you double check this also. Thanks.

I reached out to the manufacturers and the Curt # C11465 is a fit for your 2017 Subaru Imprezza as well as the 2018 model year. See attached installation details.
The Draw-Tite # DT24959 is also a confirmed fit and fits 2008 to 2018 models (see installation details) as well as some Crosstrek models. This hitch mounts in a slightly different location than the Curt hitch and does not require the security strap # 18050. I personally would go with the Draw-Tite Hitch and avoid that strap that could possibly damage your spoiler.
For your ball mount, I recommend # 3593 along with a 2 inch hitch ball like # 19258 or a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball like # 19256.
For your trailer wiring connection, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118744. This plugs into your factory wiring harness located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the storage trays, the scuff panel, the interior side panel, and the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
The manufacturer does not confirm a fit of the other hitches on 2017 model. There are models confirmed to fit a 2018 that are not a confirmed fit for the 2017, so the frame must have some differences. There are also a couple that do carry over based on their fit location, so the manufacturer decided to use different points on the 2018 models for more strength.
