Will Rear Bumper Cover on 2017 Ford Explorer Need to be Modified for Trailer Hitch Installation
Question:
Do you have to modify the rear bumper cover to accomodate the hitches you have recommended? Do these hitches mount below rear bumper cover where you can see it all the time, rather than under the cover on the trailer tow equipped models?

No modification of the rear bumper is needed when installing the Curt # C13386 or Draw-Tite # 76034 hitch receiver on your 2017 Ford Explorer.
Both trailer hitch receiver options will sit below the rear bumper so they will be visible at all times as you can see in the attached installation videos.
Out of both trailer hitches I recommend the Draw-Tite over the Curt since it has a higher tongue weight rating of 675 lbs and a higher gross trailer weight rating of 4,500 lbs.
If you let me know what you will be using the trailer hitch for I can make some additional recommendations for you.
