What Does Weigh Safe Ball Mount Actually Weigh?

Hi All, I just weighed my rear axle to see how accurate my new weigh safe ball mount. Weigh safe shows 500lbs. The truck scales indicate 1000lbs!! Whats up with this? Is this just some sort of gimmick or do I have a faulty one? Thanks for any info.

The Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount # WS6-25 you have will display the tongue weight on the on the hitch ball. I am unsure from your description what method you used; it would need to be the same as the photo I've attached for there to potentially be an issue. That picture comes from a help article on how to determine tongue weight which I've linked for you. Those are the methods you would need to use to determine if your Weigh Safe was faulty or not.
