Can High-Low Adapter be Used for Towing a Car Dolly Behind an RV?
Question:
Etrailer Team, I have a 2017 Winnebago Vista Lx and need to tow my car behind it. I currently have a tow dolly. Can you use this 8inch hitch adapter with a tow dolly if the tongue weight is not over 400 lbs? If not, do you have any suggestions? Please advise. Thank you

The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8 is used for flat towing and not for towing a trailer or dolly. Instead you would need to use the hitch on your 2017 Winnebago Vista and the a ball mount with the correct rise or drop.In order to choose the correct ball mount, there are a couple measurements you'll need to take. First, make sure both your Winnebago and the tow dolly are parked on level ground; you'll then want to measure from the ground to the top of your hitch receiver. Next, measure from the ground to the bottom of your coupler.
If the height of your hitch is greater, you will need a ball mount with that amount of drop. If the height of the coupler is greater, you'll need a ball mount with that amount of rise. For example, if the top of the hitch on your truck measured 12 inches and the bottom of your coupler measured 10 inches, you would need a ball mount with 2 inches of drop. I've attached a link to a help article on ball mounts for you to take a look at, as well as a link to our selection of ball mounts.
