These articles and your Cadillac owner's manual are the places to get started. I checked the online edition of the manual for your car and Cadillac states the AWD SRX can be flat towed from the front up to 65-mph. The manual explains the preparation steps needed on pages 10-93 thru 10-95.

I will give you a recap of all the items you will need, starting with base plates. I recommend the Blue Ox base plate # BX1690 for its sturdy cross-beam design. An install video is linked for you. The Alpha tow bar # BX7380 is a good choice for its high 6500-lb capacity and because it includes the required safety cables.

Braking systems come in several types, including systems that install permanently and that require modifications to the car, but also in the simpler portable variety such as the Blue Ox Patriot # BRK2016 that can stay with you as long as you flat tow, since it is wireless and fully portable. It can easily move to your next towed car should you ever replace the Caddie. You will use outlet kit # RM-9332 to power it.

Lighting/wiring kits are also available in many types (described in one of the articles) but the easiest and most universal are the simple magnetic light kits like # TLL21RK and # TL21RK. Like the Patriot brake system these are easily moved to another vehicle.
