Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2015 Honda Odyssey

Question:

Per Uhaul, the trailer tongue needs to be between 18.5 and 25 inches from the ground. Considering my setup on the Honda Odyssey, which ball mount do I need? The mounts that you suggested look like they would not put the tongue into the acceptable range from Uhaul. Thanks.

For a trailer hitch for your 2015 Honda Odyssey we'd recommend the Draw Tite part # 75270 which is a confirmed fit and is a 2 inch hitch and has plenty of towing capacity for towing. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

For trailer wiring you'd then want the # 118521 which is a confirmed fit as well and is the most reliable option we have. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

Since you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

The correct Timbren kit is then the part # THROD2 for your vehicle.

Thanks for the response. Are there any wiring options that do not require the connections to be placed through the rear hatch? That seems like a very elementary way to make the connection. I'd rather have something permanently attached to the hitch receiver. Thanks.

Having the 4-way run out of the back hatch is actually the preferred method although it seems like it wouldn't be. Having the 4-way stored inside the cab of the keeps it protected from rain and moisture to prevent corrosion and keeps it protected from damage to the wiring or connector by rocks or debris that might be on the highway. You can run the wire through the vehicle if you wish but just keep in mind that this does take more time and you may end up needing additional wire because you will not be routing the wire in a straight line. As far as mounting the 4-Way end under the vehicle, that, too, can be accomplished though there is some extra work involved and you may have to drill through the bottom of the vehicle. You would need to remove as much flooring as you can from the cargo area in the van, getting down to the bare metal. At this point you would need to locate a grommet or other opening through which you can route the wiring. However there is a good chance any grommet you find will not be large enough to accept the 4-Way.

When we installed the Draw Tite hitch on a 2015 Honda Odyessey we found it had a height of 13 inches from the ground to the top of the hitch opening. So you'd need at least a 4-3/4 inch rise like the part # AMSC6 which has that.
