Towing Weight Capacities for a 2006 Dodge Charger
Question:
Good afternoon, I have a Dogde Charger 2006, I need this part so I can attach a small trailer and put stuff like a sofa, mattress, etc just furniture that I can’t fit in my car. I don’t know how much weight this can hold or if can use it for the purpose that I just told you. Thank you!

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76145 is a confirmed fit for your 2006 Dodge Charger. Although it is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver that has a 4,500 lb Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating and a 675 Tongue Weight (TW) rating, you are wise to look into weight capacities for your vehicle.
Most (but not all) of the time a trailer hitch is rated for higher weight ratings than the manufacturer has rated the vehicle for. This is to ensure that you can tow with the max capacities of your vehicle being the limiting factor instead of the equipment that you are using.
I looked up the online version of the owner's manual for a 2006 Dodge Charger and I found that on page 252 for the regular Charger you can tow a loaded trailer weighing 1,000 lbs - 2,000 lbs depending on how much weight is in the vehicle and your engine size. The Charger SRT is not recommended for towing. I recommend checking your copy of the owner's manual to make sure that you do not exceed the weight capacity and for other safe towing tips.
To complete your towing setup you will also need a ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip, and trailer wiring. A popular option for a ball mount is the Curt # C45036 which has a 2" drop and come with a 2" diameter hitch ball, plus a pin and clip. I have attached a link to our selection of ball mounts as well as a helpful article to assist you in your choice of a ball mount.
For trailer wiring I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One # 118404 as we have found Tekonsha to be the most reliable source for wiring out there.
I have also attached some sample installation videos and additional helpful articles for you to check out.
