Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2004 Ford E-350 With Cutaway Chassis
Question:
What hitch could I get to fit my truck? I will only be pulling about 5000 lbs. But I want heavy duty hitch in case I sell it. Is there anything available that is bolt on, or do they all have to be welded on? Attached is a picture of my truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From your photo, it looks like you have a Ford E-350 with a cutaway chassis, and there is a heavy-duty hitch that can be bolted on, though you will need to be sure that the bolt holes where the hitch fits are exactly 38-5/8 inches from frame to frame.
I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame # 41945 which is Class V rated and has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,500 lbs; this is the highest-rated hitch available for your vehicle. If you do not have the factory tow package and need to add a 4-way I recommend the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11140495. I've added links to reviews of both the hitch and harness for you to take a look at.
Since you are going to be towing, I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached links to a video review of the ball mount kit and our page with each of our ball mounts.
