Can Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch be Used in Long Bed Truck
Question:
Hi I purchase a Demco Autoslide 18k last year from Etrailer and installed it in my 2013 Ram 3500 Mega Cab. It fits great and works even better. My question is, I am in the process of buying a 2017 F-450 king ranch dually with a full size bed, will this hitch still work with the new truck? I know I will need a new adapter plate to install in the truck for the hitch to mate to, but will the hitch provide to much travel in the bed and will it cause problem with potential contact to the rear fender flares? Thanks for the hlep

While sliding fifth wheel hitches aren't necessary for long bed trucks, there is no reason you cannot use your existing Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550022 in your new 2017 Ford F-450. You will not have any issues when it comes to the sliding mechanism and travel of the hitch.
If your F-450 does not have the factory rail kit, you can use the Demco Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # DM8551009. This kit is custom-fit for this truck and will allow you to mount your existing Hijacker to the truck bed. I have attached a short video demonstration on this product, along with the written installation details that you can take a look at.
