Troubleshooting Titan Brake Rite Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator with Pump That Wont Start

I had a titan brake rite on my boat trailer. When the installers put the plug and play together they damaged the power feed connection. I cut out the bad connection and installed a new one. When I went to test it the vehicle registered the trailer was connected but the pump would not kick on. I tried the brake pedal and the manual brake and neither would work. I heard a click each time but the pump never started? I also tried to engage it by pulling the emergency disconnect and nothing happens.

It sounds like you have an internal issue with the Brake Rite # T4813102. To troubleshoot, I recommend starting with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. You will want to first check the power wire going to the unit.

Once you know the unit has power, then you will want to check the ground to make sure you have a clean bare metal to metal ground connection that is free of rust, corrosion, or debris. Next you will check the brake controller output wire to ensure your EOH is getting signal from your brake controller.

If you have all of these functions, then it is likely that the actual unit is damaged and you'd want to take it to a dealer for repair. If power is not getting to the unit, then you will want to use the circuit tester to trace the wire that is not receiving proper signal probing it every few feet to locate the short. When a short is found, that portion of wire should be replaced with # 10-1-1 sold by the foot.
