Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 1999 Ford Ranger Pickup Truck

Is there a plug for a ,7 pin round plug with blades that I can use for a camper with electric brakes that does not require splicing? 1999 Ford Ranger

For your 1999 Ford Ranger, there is not a 7-way that does not require spicing. The good news is you won't need to spice every wire and splicing for this installation is not difficult with the correct wiring kit.

If you do not have the factory trailer connector, then I recommend the T-One wiring harness # 118325 to start. This harness plugs into your factory wiring harness located beneath your vehicle along the driver's side frame rail. If you do have the factory 4-way, then you can use # 118241 as a replacement if needed.

Once you have the 4-way wiring, then you will need the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will come with all the connectors, circuit breakers and wire needed to complete your 7-way wiring conversion for your camper with electric brakes.

For your brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This controller is a proportional controller which applies the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your Ranger. It has a really nice LCD screen that helps you know exactly what you need to know without any code deciphering. It has easy to use preset options to allow you to control the braking intensity for your desired braking.
