What is the Candela Output of Optronics 6-1/2 Inch Incandescent and LED Tail Lights?

Question:

I have a light like this now in my horse trailer: Sealed, 6-1/2inch Oval Trailer Back Up Light, Flush Mount - Clear Item # BU70CB I want to move to LED but do not want super bright given where these are mounted. Do you know the lumens of the above light, the single diode LED and the 6 diode LED you carry? Want to find the best comparable light. Thanks

I do recommend you move to LED lights as they are going to last much longer than the incandescent lights on your horse trailer. As far as light output, Optronics generally measures their lights in candelas instead of lumens though at a distance of 1 foot candela is equal to lumens so you should have a good idea of how bright the lights are. I contacted Optronics and the representative was able to give me the candelas of each of the lights you were asking about.

The incandescent # BU70CB has an output of 315 candelas, the single diode # BUL002CB has an output of 164 candelas and the 6 diode # BUL12CB has an output of 207 candelas.

To mount these lights you need Grommet # A70GB; the incandescent light needs 3-Wire Pigtail # A45PB and for the LED lights you need 2-Wire Pigtail # A45CB.

I've added links to video reviews of these parts for you to take a look at.

Question:

So, that information surprises me as LED lights always seem so bright. What would the candelas of the clear 10 diode light then? BUL10CB. I have 10 diode tail lights on the outside that seem quite bright so was guessing I would need less on these inside lights. I don’t want less light, but also didn’t want to blind us all either.

The # BUL10CB light that you referenced has a candela rating of 125, which is lower than the other two lights that you asked about. This light would also require 2-Wire Pigtail # A45CB and Grommet # A70GB.
