Question:
Would this be the right cooler for a 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe pulling less than 2,000 over fairly flat terrain? Any gotchyas on the installation in this vehicle?

The Derale Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13501, would be a great choice for the application you have described. The only gotchyas may be the transmission lines themselves. We do not have any reliable information on which fittings are used on Hyundai vehicles at this time.
You should be able to use the insta-dapt fitting included with the cooler for installation. This part will install in the fitting coming out of the oem cooler in the radiator tank, and the return line from the new trans cooler will push on over the OEM transmission line and be clamped in place.
If the insta-dapt fitting will not work, you may need to determine if an OEM fitting is the correct size, see link, or you may need to cut and flare the transmission return line for proper installation. Cutting and flaring tools are available at a local automotive supply.
