Timbren Springs Not Lining Up with Axle Bracket on 2004 GMC Yukon XL
Question:
I have a 2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali with a 2 rear lift spacers and Suburban Z71 rear coil springs that gave around an additional inch of lift. I have the Timbren TGMRG25C with two 1 spacers and one 1/2 spacer on each side. With that setup the Timbrens just rest on the axles. But only about 1/4 of the Timbren actually makes contact with the pad on the axle. The rest is hanging off the edge. The issue is the coil spring type suspension with trailing arms and angle at which the Timbren and axle make contact. With the stock bump stop, the angle the bump stop and axle make contact would almost be perpendicular. However with the Timbren installed the angle is way off to the point where they hardly make contact with the axle pad and Im afraid once any load is put on the truck the Timbren would just pop out of the cups they are mounted in. The pictures are a bit hard to see exactly how they make contact but you can see they are barely on the axle pads. I plan on removing one of the 1 spacers on each side to get some clearance between the stops and the axle but am still concerned with the angle theyll meet at. The angle will be slightly reduced when the Timbrens are shortened but still a concern. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Is it the additional spacers that are causing the main part of the spring to out of alignment compared to the stock bump stops on your 2004 GMC Yukon XL? Are the Timbren springs fully seated in the bump stop cups? On these vehicles it is hard to manually push them into place. We usually use a block of wood and slowly put weight back on the axle so that the wood and the weight will push the springs into the bump stop cup.
And I know you have the Z71 springs but is the Yukon itself 4-wheel drive? And is it a 1500 or 2500? I just want to make sure you are using the right springs for the application. Spring set # TGMRG25C is meant for a 4x4 1500 model.
Springs # TGMRYS4 are for the 2-wheel drive 1500.
Springs # TGMRSB4S are for the 2- or 4-Wheel drive 2500.
