What Tools are needed to Install the Draw-Tite # 76031 on a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder
Question:
Hi - Im wanting to add a hitch to my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. I found your video and the part.... So much better than paying $800-900 to my dealer. What Im wondering is to do this myself what other tools do I need - a torque wrench? I have a socket set and a drill that Im thinking I could get an adapter for to get the bolts mostly tight - Is that enough? Any part numbers/links for the tools would be great. Thanks!

To install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76031 on your 2017 Nissan Pathfinder you will need the following tools per the installation instructions:
Safety Glasses
Ratchet
18mm Sockets
Torque Wrench
6" Socket Extension
Although it would seem like you could just tighten the bolts down and get on the road, Draw-Tite has done extensive testing and found that the bolts need to be specifically torqued to 76 ft-lbs to secure the hitch. Anything less could come loose and anything more could potentially compromise the integrity of the bolts or trailer hitch. If you don't already have a torque wrench then I recommend using the Powerbuilt Digital Torque Adapter # ALL940963. A more cost effective option would be the Powerbuilt Beam-Type Torque Wrench # ALL644044.
I highly recommend following the instructions completely since the manufacturer does this for a living and they definitely know what they are doing.
I have attached a link to an installation video as well as the installation instructions for you to check out.
If you let me know what you will be using the trailer hitch for I can make some additional recommendations if necessary.
