Choosing Between Frame Mount and Universal Camper Tie-Downs for Ford F-350

Question:

Is there any reason other than spending the extra money why I cant use the more reasonable bed type binders and a chain to lengthen them down to the frame mounts?

The primary advantage of frame-mounted camper tie-downs like the TorkLift # TLF2012A and # TLF3001A, which are designed to fit your Ford F-350 if it has the 6-3/4 foot bed without a step/board underneath and a factory hitch, is the stability they provide. Because they mount to the vehicle's steel frame, which is simply a much stronger attachment point than the truck bed, it offers a stronger and more secure connection.

With that being said, you can certainly use clamp on tie-downs like the Brophy # HSSF for your truck. These are universal fit items that will work on your F-350 as long as the external bed rail width does not exceed 5 inches and there is at least 2 inches of space beneath the lip of the bed rail. You can then use the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles w/ Hardware # TDHP to secure the camper to these tie-downs.

I have attached a video demonstration on this system so you can see exactly how they install.
