Question:
I am looking at changing my hydraulic brake actuator from a manual lockout to one without one. It says that I will need to change to free backing brakes. Are all trailers compatible for free backing drum brakes to install on or will I run into problems makeing the change over to them from standard drums? Thanks.

All hydraulic brake drum systems are compatible with free-backing brake assemblies like # AKFBBRK-35-D for 3500 lb axles with 10 inch drums or # AKFBBRK-7 for axles 5.5K to 7K with 12 inch assemblies.
The brake lines are run to the brake cylinder that only has a single piston to allow movement in reverse without engaging the brake shoes to stop the trailer.
