Replacement Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box for OEM Lippert 1621

Question:

My 5th wheel RV currently has a Lippert 1621, 15,500lb pin box and my F350 with the 6.5ft box has a 16k Reese Titan roundtube slider hitch. Im looking to replace pinbox with the best aftermarket pin box for my application and Im little concerned whether the new pin box will cause a ride height issue with the RV, since Im already in a slightly nose high situation with my RV. I have no room left to adjust my current set up, because Im already at minimum truck bed to 5th wheel clearance of 5. Thanks.

Often the best solution to raise the height of the 5th wheel trailer so that you maintain the needed clearance between the truck bed rails and the trailer overhang is to install on the trailer an axle over-under kit. These kits allows you to swap the positions of the axle and leaf spring stacks to lift the height of the trailer.

We have two such kits, part # K71-384-00 for axles with a diameter of 2-3/8-inches; and part # K71-385-00 for axles that are 3-inches in diameter.

Each kit will lift the trailer height equal to the sum of the axle diameter + the height of the spring stack. So, for example, 3-inch axle kit # K71-385-00 if installed on a trailer with a 3-inch-tall spring stack would deliver a total height gain of 6-inches.

For the popular Lippert 1621 pin box we offer several cushioned-type replacements that are rated for 16K, 18K and 21K. All can be seen on the linked page and all are direct bolt-on replacement pin boxes for your Lippert 1621. I suggest the 18K Flex Air # LC328492 since this unit's cushioned design will deliver a substantially smoother ride quality than the OEM 1621.
