Tire and Wheel Options for a ST185/80-D13 Trailer Tire

Question:

I’m looking for st185/80d13 load range D with rims which I found on your website. I also noticed you had st185/80r13. Is there any advantage to the radial tire or should I stick with my OEM style D? I have a Coleman pop up camper.

Expert Reply:

In general, radial ply tires are better for long highway trips whereas bias ply tires are better for short trips that may lead you offroad. However, we only offer bias ply trailer tires in a ST185/80-D13. We currently have 4 wheel/tire combos in your size all of which have a wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern. I have attached these options for you below but you will want to use the attached help article to ensure you have chosen the correct lug pattern.

Loadstar Tire/Galvanized Wheel: part # AM3S334

Loadstar Tire/White Mod Wheel: part # AM3S333

Loadstar Tire/Aluminum Wheel: part # AM3S339

Loadstar Tire/White Spoke Wheel: part # AM3S331

Question:

One more question. If I buy tires on rims, are they balanced?

Expert Reply:

All of our wheel/tire combos come pre-balanced to an extent. The heavy spot on the wheel is aligned with the light spot on the tire to create a balance that is sufficient for use on trailers. They are not completely balanced and will need to be taken to a reputable shop to be zeroed out should you choose but the light/heavy spot method will be more than sufficient for most trailers.
