Is a 4-Way Required for a 7-Way on a 2008 Mercury Mariner

We recently purchased an Airliner camper for a cross country road trip that I intend to install electric brakes on. I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner V6 w/ backup sensor, NO tow package. My question is in order to install the 7 way connector for both lights and brakes on the camper do I need to first purchase and install the 4 pole connector 118551 and then add the the 7 way connector w/ ETBC7? Or does ETBC7 have everything I need for both? This is somewhat confusing as many of the questions and videos talk about adding a 7 way connector to an existing 4 way, but I cannot determine if I actually need to have the 4 way first to operate the lights or if ETBC7 is all I need. Thank you for your time.

In order to add a 7-way trailer connector to your 2008 Mercury Mariner you will indeed want to add a 4-way first like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118551. This is a plug and play harness that will be very easy to install. In order to then add the 7-way trailer connector I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit part # ETBC7. The universal install kit has everything you need to install the 7-way in addition to containing both 4 and 7-way connection points.

If you need any other parts for your vehicle/trailer to complete your set up please let me know and I would be happy to recommend them. I have also attached a help article on the parts needed to add electric brakes to a trailer which I believe you may find useful.
