In order to use the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System part # SM99251 on your 2017 Chevrolet Spark you are going to want to disconnect the positive battery terminal with a battery disconnected like part # RM-766. The negative battery terminal on the battery will need to remain intact in order for the SMI Stay-IN-Play to function properly.

I have attached a sample install on the battery disconnect for you as well.

Question:

Conner, do you have a manual battery disconnect switch that would be less expensive than the model that you recommended

Expert Reply:

Yes, absolutely the Deka Lead Quick-Disconnect Battery Terminal part # DW05312 can be used as a cost effective alternative to the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect part # RM-766. The only difference is that you will need to modify the vehicle's positive battery terminal clamp in addition to entering and exiting the vehicle before use each time.
