Recommended Weight Distribution System for 1,300 lb Tongue Weight

I’m looking for a weight distribution hit for my 11000 gross WT. Toyhauler. My tongue WT. varies between 1050-1620 but mostly it stays around 1325. My tow vehicle is 2016 RAM 3500 Mega Cab dually with a 2 1/2 inch receiver. What do you recommend?

The weight distribution system I highly recommend for you is the Reese Strait-Line, which does not control sway, but prevents it by using a cam system that controls the spring bars by applying pressure to each of them. Other weight distribution systems simply help control the sway, but the Strait-Line actually prevents it, which is why I often recommend it, particularly with larger tongue weights.

Choosing the right system will depend on your total tongue weight (TTW), which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to go trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2016 Ram 3500. The ideal system would be one in which your TTW would fall somewhere in the middle of the weight distribution system's tongue weight capacity.

There is not a Blue Ox system that fits a 2-1/2" hitch that would work with the tongue weights you gave, and with varying weights, a system with a wide range would be best for you and the Reese Strait-Line # RP66075 fits the bill perfectly. It has a tongue weight capacity between 1,000 lbs and 1,700 lbs so the 1,325 lbs you referenced is going to be smack in the middle of that. If your total tongue weight was limited to no more than 1,400 lbs then Reese Strait-Line # RP66130 would work.

Each of these will require a shank such as the Reese # RP54977 as well as a hitch ball, either # A-90 for a 2" ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16" ball. I've added links to video reviews of these parts for you to check out as well.
