Carrying Two Kayaks on 2018 Chevy Colorado That is Towing a Trailer

I wish to pull my RV which weighs about 4500 lbs with my truck..I also wish to use an dual receiver extension to be able on the top to install a Thule back rack so I can mount two 50lbs end of kayak will sit on back rack going into top receiver and front of kayaks will rest on a thule roof rack on the roof of the cab....yes I know you have a sliding ladder system but this is a cheaper alternative....suggestions?

While I like that you're thinking of alternatives, what you are proposing is not going to work because a dual hitch extension such as the MaxxTow # MT70066 will reduce the capacity of your 2018 Chevy Colorado's hitch by half - including the tongue weight.

I am unsure of the exact roof rack you have on your '18 Colorado but you may be able to put a kayak carrier directly on the roof if your crossbar spread is enough. For example, the Thule's The Stacker # TH830 if the crossbars on your Colorado are at least 24" and your kayaks are no more than 10 feet long.

Another good option would be to add a non-sliding ladder rack to your Colorado that would be a relatively inexpensive alternative, the Erickson # EM07706, and then add pads such as the Rhino-Rack # RRRWP05.

I've added links to video revies of these parts for you to check out as well.
