Is Drilling/Spare Tire Relocation Required to Install Curt Trailer Hitch 13138 on 2000 Ford Ranger

Question:

Reading the many positive reviews here, seem to be different comments regarding drilling for installationand whether it will work with spare tire under-mount. I have a full size spare with crank down mount. Will it still be usable? Will drilling be required? Is there a place I can get a template or dimensions specific to my model before I purchase?

The spare tire should not be an issue for Curt trailer hitch # 13138 for your 2000 Ford Ranger. The instructions, linked for reference below, state that relocation of the tire bracket is not required. Provided that the spare tire is a stock size then I do not anticipate there being an issue.

Regarding any drilling it would appear that some trucks that take this hitch already have the required mounting holes on the frame. Others do not. On models that do not two 1/2 inch holes will need to be drilled using the hitch as a template. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
