Cushioned Pin Box and Air Bag Kit for 2015 F-250 Towing 5th Wheel Trailer

I need support for 5th wheel towing. I get significant bouncing on uneven roads. Several products seem appropriate. My trailer causes 2.5+/-inch sag in back and 0+/-inch in front. Measured at wheel well

A preferred fix for a bouncing 5th wheel trailer is a cushioned type pin box that can absorb road shocks and irregularities. Such pin boxes, like the Trailair # LC158778, use an internal air bag and built-in strut to absorb road shock before it can reach you in the tow vehicle. These are made as specific replacements for particular OEM pin boxes; the ones referenced above fits in place of Lippert 1621 and 1621HD long-jaw 5th-wheel pin boxes. Other models are made to replace other OEM pin boxes as noted in the linked article.

Some rear-end sag is normal when you tow but excessive sag can be addressed through use of an air bag kit. Rear axle air bags allow you to stiffen the suspension when it is under load. If you add a compressor kit you can make pressure adjustments as you drive to find the sweet spot for towing your particular trailer and to match it to the road conditions.

Firestone kit # F2597 fits both 2WD and 4WD versions of the 2015 F-250 and it is compatible with a 5th wheel hitch installation. A compressor kit like # F2097 allows you to control air bag pressure as you tow and will let you add support the right to the rear suspension to compensate for the trailer pin weight.
