How to Remove an Old Bike Rack Cradle and Slide on a New One

Hello. This part wont come loose. How do I install it?

Bike rack cradles such as Replacement Stay-Put Cradle # 853-7887 fit very tight on the bike rack arm. To remove the old one first make sure the bike rack cannot move by securing it in a trailer hitch. Then grab the cradle with both hands and start rotating it a little back and forth several times. Once it feels like it is rotating easier continue to twist it back and forth while pulling it towards the end of the arm until you can pull it off. If the bike rack has an end cap at the end be sure to remove it first.

To put the new one on make sure the bike rack arm is clean. You can also spray a little bit of hairspray on the arm right before putting on the new cradle. Hairspray will, at first, be slippery but will become tacky as it dries. Put the new cradle on by twisting it back and forth while pushing it at the same time.
