Question:
Looking to put a ring on with backing plate on aluma snowmobile trailer for my atv tie down. Just thinking that’s a lot of weight bouncing on the trailer, won’t it just tear a hole in the wood eventually? It’s just 1/2” sheets Thanks

Depends on the condition of the wood but the backing plate of the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate # RR5K that you referenced is designed to distribute the weight so that it does not easily rip through the wood.
I attached a picture of what the backing plate looks like installed. If the floor is strong enough for the weight of your snowmobile it's going to be strong enough for the backing plate to be effective.
