We have everything you need to install a trailer brake controller on your vehicle, however there is not a plug-in wiring adapter available for your 1998 Chevy S-10 truck.

The wiring components you need will depend on what your S-10 is already equipped with. If you currently do not have any trailer connector installed, you will need to start with a 4-Way harness. For this, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118359. This custom harness will install by connecting to a built-in port located at the rear of the truck, along the inside of the driver's side frame rail. I have attached the installation instructions to assist.

Once you have the 4-Way harness installed (or if your truck already had a 4-Way connector), you will need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way connector, along with the wiring and circuit breakers needed to install a trailer brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.

Then, for the brake controller itself, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is an excellent, proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your S-10. It features a digital display, 3 boost levels, and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.
