2005 Dodge Ram Trailer Wiring Recommendation

I am interested in the #13333 class 3 hitch with a wiring harness. My pickup has no towing features at all. Just the plastic cover plate in the left side of rear bumper. Ideally I would like to use the existing hole to route the harness thru the bumper. What do you suggest?

Since your 2005 Dodge Ram does not have trailer wiring currently you'd need to start with a 4-way like the part # C55504 since your truck does not have factory wiring at all. If the 4-way is all you need then you'd be set as-is. If you need to move on to a 7-way you'll need additional components as well.

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.

If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
