If your 2008 Dodge Ram short bed is already equipped with a B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch, then the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400 is definitely what I recommend to install a fifth-wheel hitch. The base of this hitch will install directly into the existing gooseneck ball hole on your truck without the need for any additional rails or adapter. It features 1 inch thick dual jaws to provide an excellent connection with the fifth-wheel trailer, along with a fully articulating head and a 20,000 pound towing capacity. The built-in slider will provide 12 inches of travel to give you the needed cab clearance during sharp turns. You will then just need to remove the hitch when you need to tow your gooseneck trailer.
