Can Blocks be Used to Install Garnish of Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2092SP-28

Question:

My truck cap has a 0.035 aluminum skin. This vent appears to need a thicker material to mount to. Do you have other vents similar in style that would be more appropriate for my particular situation if not, do you recommend blocks of wood to make up for the depth disparity?

Expert Reply:

Blocks of wood is exactly what we used to install the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2092SP-28 on an enclosed trailer. Although the garnish isn't exactly necessary for the installation, it does help make the installation look nice and gives you some protection from the mounting screws that come through the roof. We have the Installation Kit # 344270KITW available as well which includes mounting screws and sealant.

I have linked the installation video I referred to in for you to check out.
