Question:
Im restoring an old car hauler trailer. Currently has 205/75/r15 wheels and tires. 2 axel. What is the highest capacity wheel and tire combination without exceeding 27.5 inch overall wheel/tire dimensions? Willing to change wheel size as long as I stay under 27.5. Currently my setup is coming in at 27.1 I believe.

The 205/75-15 tire and wheel combo is 27.1 inches in diameter, which would be the largest diameter available that doesn't exceed 27.5 inches. The maximum capacity for these tires is a load range D tire which have a capacity of 2,150 lbs at the max 65 psi. Keeping your tires inflated to the max psi will ensure they give you the best performance and maintain their maximum capacity.
To choose the correct wheel and tire you need to know your wheel's bolt pattern; I've added a link to a help article on how to determine bolt pattern if you are unsure of yours. The most common bolt pattern is going to be 5 on 4-1/2" and a great option for a 205/75-15 tire and wheel combo with that bolt pattern would be the Kenda Karrier # AM32418DX. If you have a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, I recommend checking out the Provider # TA23MR. Both of these options have been highly rated by our customers who have used them and will have treads that give you great traction in inclement weather.
I've added links to video reviews of both products for you to check out as well.
