Operation Details of The Draw-Tite Pintle Hook Combo # C48200
Question:
i am unclear if this mount could be used with a standard trailer tongue. could the pintle be used to lock the trailer onto the hitch or will the set up be like what i have now. in short, i need a mount that will not pop of the hitch like it has before. thanks

The Pintle Hook Combo # C48200 can be used for trailers that have a pintle hook setup that use a lunette ring, or for trailers that have a coupler and attach to a hitch ball.
You cannot use the pintle to lock or secure the trailer to the hitch ball. To use the hitch ball, your trailer would need to have a 2-5/16 inch coupler to secure to the hitch ball.
If you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver, you will need to use Pintle Hook Mounting Plate, part # RP45294. If you have a 2 inch receiver, you will need to use Draw-Tite Pintle Hook Mount, part # 63057.
To secure the mount to your hitch, I would recommend a hitch lock. For 2-1/2 inch receiver, we have the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # e98881. For a 2 inch receiver, we have the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # e98882.
If your trailer is not staying attached, there may be a problem with your trailer coupler and it will need to be inspected by a trailer professional.
We also have combination pintle hooks with built-in shank, like the Pintle Hook Combo, part # TR63042.
I have linked an FAQ on ball mounts.
