Parts Needed to Add Brakes to a 3,500 lb Dexter Trailer Axle

Question:

thinking of buying a 5x8 Continental trailer with no brakes. Has Dexter 3500 lb single axle. Can you tell me what parts are required for electric brakes and wiring? Will these parts move the wheels out from the original position fenders may not cover them?

Expert Reply:

The etrailer.com Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K for E-Z Lube Axles would be the correct hub for your Dexter 3,500 lb axle, and then for brake assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA covers both the left and right side.

This would easily install on your trailer and be all that you need aside from 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot to wire the assemblies to the trailer wiring connector.
