Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2018 Chevy Cruze
Question:
Is a 2-in receiver available?

Expert Reply:
Trailer hitches are given a class rating based on their maximum weight capacity and receiver opening size. The classes range from Class I which has the lowest capacity (2000lbs and under) and a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" opening to Class V which has the highest capacity (around 20,000lbs) and, typically, a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" opening.. The towing capacity of a Cruze is only near 1000 lbs (check owners manual). Due to the towing capacity of the Cruze we are only able to offer trailer hitches with 1-1/4" receiver openings.
The recommended trailer hitch is the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24943. There is no drilling required for installation and the underbody panel and/or fascia must be temporarily loosened or removed. This install requires temporary removal of bumper/fascia during installation and minor fascia trimming is required. The recommended ball mount is # 3593. For a compatible hitch ball, 1-7/8" # 19256 and 2" # 19258 is recommended.
If you are towing a trailer with lights and your Cruze is a Sedan, # 118696 is recommended. the plug in location is behind driver and passenger side tail lights inside the trunk. If you have a hatchback # 118734 is recommended. The plug in location is behind driver and passenger side tail lights externally.
