Question:
Looking to improve ride quality when not towing only do this occasionally. Thinking jounce-style springs will suffice, but not sure. If thats the case, which spring would you recommend for my application?

The Timbren springs are going to give your 2017 Ram 2500 a stiffer ride when the truck is empty/not towing. For similar springs that have more give thus providing a smoother ride over the alternative I recommend SumoSprings # SSR-312-47.
The best option is to use air bags # F2706 (as long as your truck does NOT have the factory air suspension system). Air bags allow you to adjust the stiffness by adding or removing air from the air bags. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
If you do decide to go with air bags then I also recommend an on board compressor # F2158 so you can add/remove air from the comfort of the truck cab and not have to rely on an external compressor.
