Question:
I am buying a Big Tex Car Trailer 70DM 16foot and planning to haul it behind our Mercedes Sprinter Class C motor home. The guy I am buying trailer from says I need a trailer brake controller. Is Tekonsha Prodigy #90195 all I need ?

In order to install a trailer brake controller like the excellent Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 that you referenced on your Sprinter, you will also need to install a fully functional 7-Way connector at the rear of the RV if this is not already present.
If there is not a connector installed on the Sprinter chassis, then you will need to start with a 4-Way. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118650. This custom harness will install by plugging into built-in ports behind the trim panels in the cargo area on the driver and passenger side.
Once installed (or if a 4-Way is already present), you can then use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to install a fully functional 7-Way from this 4-Way. This kit includes everything needed to install the 7-Way, along with the additional wiring and circuit breakers necessary to install the brake controller. Given the vehicle's size, you may need some additional wire with # 10-2-1. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you can look through.
The 7-Way connector, specifically the brake output pin on the connector, is what the brake controller will send power through to the brake assemblies on your trailer.
I have attached a couple additional articles on brake controllers that you might also find helpful.
