Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2006 Honda Pilot


Im looking at Item # 118336 but I need this item with the trailer side either a male 7 pin pole or a 6 pin 2 rows of 3 pins I dont know what its called_...how do I find this?

The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118336 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2006 Honda Pilot. This custom harness will install by connecting to a built-in port located behind the driver side trim panel on the vehicle. It will provide you with a 4-Way flat connector that will power a trailer's basic signal lights.

It sounds like the trailer you plan on towing is equipped with a 7-Way round connector. If this is not the case, please let me know.

There are two options for converting the above mentioned 4-Way to a 7-Way so that it will connect to the trailer, depending on what functions you are needing to power. If the trailer you are towing does not have electric brakes, and you are only needing to power its basic signal lights, then you can use the Tow Ready Adapter # 30717. This will plug right into the 4-Way on the Pilot and provide a 7-Way connector on the other end. The white wire will need to be grounded to a bare metal surface, but the additional wires coming out of the harness won't be needed and can just be tied off.

If your trailer does have electric brakes and they need to be powered, then you will instead need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way from the 4-Way on the vehicle, along with the additional wiring and circuit breakers needed to install a trailer brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.

Then, if the trailer has electric brakes, you will also need to install a trailer brake controller on your Honda Pilot. For this, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is an excellent, proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Pilot.
