If your 2009 GMC Sierra is a 1500 then I recommend the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, part # 75521. It has more capacity than most of the hitches without adding onto the price. I've linked a video of the install on a 2010 Sierra which will be the same for you. If your truck is not a 1500 then let me know so I can make the correct recommendation.
Also, if you need trailer wiring I recommend part # C55384 for a 4-way connetor or part # 30955 for a 7-way. Whichever connects to your boat trailer. I've also linked an article to help you determine the correct ball mount you need based on the height of your trailer.
