Can Wireless Backup Camera be Installed on Aluminum Trailer without Interference to Signal
Question:
I have an aluminum-sided trailer and I read that a wireless back up camera might not work well due to interference of the wireless signal by the metal siding. I sure would like to go wireless, but not if it wont work well. What do you think?

When mounting a wireless backup camera like the Voyager # ASA84YR to an aluminum trailer, there is the potential for interference. This is really the case with any trailer when using a wireless system, but the metal on your trailer might cause a bit more of an issue. In these cases, we have found that mounting the camera towards one side of the trailer and the monitor on the same side of the tow vehicle provides a much better signal strength to combat this potential interference.
Otherwise, the only way to be sure you won't run into these problems is to simply go with a wired backup camera system. For this, I recommend taking a look at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera # RVS-770613-NM. This system features a nice 7 inch digital TFT LCD color monitor with distance grid lines, mirror image capability, and a 3-channel multiplexer for connecting a DVD player or additional camera. The camera itself has a 130-degree viewing angle and 50 feet of infrared night vision.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can check out, along with the written installation instructions that you can look through.
