How to Back Up Trailer with Surge Brake Model 60 Actuator Installed

Got a trailstar trailer with a titan model 60 on it bout 19 years old. Cap wont come off to check fluid. Brakes locked up briefly a few times when back up. Whats causing that how do I fix it

The issue is that with the way a surge coupler works when backing up, normally up hill, the trailer is pushing the other way which will cause the actuator to compress in sending fluid back to engage the brakes. This makes it very difficult or impossible sometimes to back the trailer up.
Your Titan Model 60 actuator would need to have a lockout solenoid installed on it so that it could back up. For that you'd need the Titan solenoid part # T4748800 and you'd be able to back the traler up. I attached an install video for this for you to check out too.
