Comparing High and Low Pressure Propane Hoses and Thermoplastic Versus Rubber
Question:
I would like to replace the supply hoses for my RV. Im trying to under stand the difference between high pressure and low pressure hoses and what would be best. The RV has a two stage regulator. Also is thermoplastic as durable as rubber? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Most RV propane systems use a low pressure regulator because the appliances are low pressure. You can check the information stamped into your regulator to determine if it is high or low pressure or offers both. High pressure regulators are usually 30 psi, such as # 108072.
Hoses for high pressure systems are built to handle the higher pressure. Many hoses do not specify if they are high or low pressure and can generally be used for either system. The fittings on each type may have different requirements as well.
Thermoplastic is more flexible in cold weather compared to rubber which can get stiff and brittle. Thermoplastic is very durable. Other things made of thermoplastic include floor mats and liners which probably get much more abuse than any propane hose!
There are a lot of different hoses available. If you know your specific fitting requirements and lengths needed I can make some recommendations. In the meantime I have included a link to our selection of hoses.
