can I use the trailers on board 12 volt battery as the controller power source?

You could use the trailer mounted battery to power the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller # 3430001. However, it is possible that the unit will deplete the battery and you won't have any trailer brakes. The battery could receive a maintenance charge from the 12 volt circuit on a 7-Way trailer connector but if you do that you should instead just use that 12 volt circuit to power the Autowbrake.
