Does the Tie-Down Ring or Backing Plate have to Face a Certain Way in Tie-Down with Plate # RR5K
Question:
Not sure I can explain what I want to know. When installing should the hinge of the ring be toward the load or away? The backing plate is off center. Should the wider side be toward the load or away. I hope that was clear.

You explained it perfectly fine! For Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor with Backing Plate # RR5K it really does not matter which way you have it positioned. The important thing is that the backing plate is used so that it can better disperse the force applied to the ring to a larger area on the trailer.
In the video I have linked showing an example installation we put the hinge end towards the back of the trailer so the load would actually be forward. The longer side of the backing plate is pointing towards the front of the trailer.
