Question:
I am a new high school bike team father. My son has a new SC carbon fiber frame and rim bike - I know, but got a deal. We need a bike rack to get him and a buddy or two to races, mostly 30 min to 3 hours away. Have a 2010 Land Rover LR4. Have been guided to a hitch mount, platform, wheel mount bike rack. We would ideally like to be able to accomodate more than 2 bikes when needed. We DO have a budget and want to spend as little as is practical. Please let me know what I should be getting. Thanks!

You are correct and you need a bike rack that only touches the tires and not a frame mount. So for a lower priced option that can carry up to 4 bikes the best option is the Swagman Semi 4.0 part # S64698-99.
I know neither of these racks are inexpensive, but this style of rack is considered to be the premiere style and costs the most to make properly. Also when you need to expand past two bikes this rack also gets quite a bit more expensive unlike hanging style racks.
