Measuring a 5th Wheel Trailer Pin Box to Identify it and to See if a Reese Goose Box Will Fit

Question:

I have a 40’ Montana 5th wheel. I want to install the Reese goose box adapter but I cannot find a number for the hitch on my trailer . My existing hitch measured 12 15/16. Which goose box do I need. Want to buy the 20,000# model.

There are some measurements you can take on your trailer's pin box to identify it. Take a look at the help article I have linked that shows the measurements needed.

The available Goose Box adapters fit in place of the following:

20K Goose Box # RP94720 - Lippert 1621, 1621HD, and 0719 pin boxes
16K Goose Box # RP94716 - Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes; Fabex PB-600 Series
16K Goose Box # RP94716-61301 - Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes

If your measurements indicate any of the above pin boxes then you can use the corresponding Goose Box. Otherwise I recommend taking a look at the Demco Recon, # DM8550045, which clamps around a 2-5/16 inch gooseneck ball and allows you to tow a 5th wheel trailer if all you have is a gooseneck hitch. I linked a video review for you.
