Replacement A-Frame Jack for Lippert Ground Control TT

Question:

I bought a 2018 Cougar by Keystone 27RESWE 33+ and it came with a LCI Ground Control Leveling System. What it DIDNT come with, because the dealership changed it, is a LCI Smart Tongue Jack and has a Bulldog brand instead. Apparently the LCI Ground Control System does not talkinch to the Electric Bulldog Tongue Jack and currently, you cannot use the AUTO Feature. And, it constantly blows the 25amp fuses also. The dealership says, the only way to fix it is put the original LCI Tongue Jack back on they will not pay for the change, parts or labor even though they installed it incorrectly Curtis Trailers, Aloha/Beaverton, Oregon so of course, Im totally pissed about the whole thing. I am disabled and rely on the electronic jacking system. The only LCI Tongue Jack I find on your site is: 643589 Lippert Components LCI Power Tongue Smart Jack - A-Frame - 18inch Screw Travel - 3,500 lbs - Black ... Is this the correct jack for my LCI System Will they talk together so I can take advantage of the LCI AUTO function? If so, Ill purchase your LCI jack and have them install it. Then Im done with Curtis Trailer where the trailer was originally purchased. A speedy reply would be quite helpful...

Sorry to hear about your troubles and your anger is understandable but we can help you out. It sounds like you have the Electric Ground Control # LC672136, which is for travel trailers. We have gotten questions about a replacement jack for this before and according to Lippert, the correct replacement for the Ground Control is the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack # LC285318.

Question:

Thanks for your speedy reply. Only one+ question left. What makes this LCI Tongue Jack "Speak" to the Leveling Computer that runs the 4 other Ground Control jacks? It shows that it only has a RED POSITIVE wire for power and grounds itself via the mounting bracket bolts. Where's the "Brain?" Is this the only LCI jack you carry in 3500# capacity, or the only one LCI makes or does LCI make a 4000# Jack that is essentially the same thing? OK, 2-1/2 questions, then I quit! Thanks

Excellent question, and you are right about the wiring. I have spoken to Lippert about this before and what they told me that was you (or rather the installers) would need to disconnect the wiring from the original jack on Ground Control # LC672136 and wire it to replacement jack # LC285318. It will need to be hardwired in since it does not have the original harness.

I have added a couple photos which show the original jack that should have come with the system has and how the tongue jack harness will connect to the jack; this is the part that will need to be hardwired in.
