Do the Bearings Need to Be Packed When Switching from Oil to Grease Lubrication
Question:
When changing from oil Beth to grease do you have to remove and pack bearings or can you just pack hubs real good then install bearing buddy

Expert Reply:
When changing from oil to grease lubrication in your trailer hubs you will need to completely disassemble the hubs and bearings making sure to clean off all of the remaining oil. Once the old oil is removed you will then need to repack all of the bearings and install them back into the hub. The final greasing to fill the hubs can be done though the zerk fitting on the Bearing Buddy but the bearings will need to be packed prior to installing them.
Please note that the seals will need to be changed when switching from oil to grease. If you can provide me with the inner diameter (ID) and outer diameter (OD) of the seal you have now I can make sure you get the correct replacement or I have attached our list for you.
