Yes, you can replace a weld-on surge brake actuator with a bolt-on surge brake actuator and you can weld a bolt-on surge brake actuator to the trailer. If you are handy with a welder and have one available then I prefer this method over the other as you never have to worry about a nut backing off or drilling holes into the frame.
If you can provide me with some more info on your trailer then I would be happy to recommend a surge brake actuator for you but if not I have attached our available selection. The Titan line is one of our best sellers for surge brake actuators.

I have a Trail rite triple axle with drum brakes carrying a 6750 lb (dry weight), SeaRay boat. I would like to replace the welded on actuator with a new one. Can you tell me which unit I need, can I cut the old one off with a cutoff wheel, and is welding the new one on ok. Thank you 77985
I can absolutely help you pick out a good replacement actuator. Do you happen to know what model is currently welded to the trailer? The old one can be cut off and the new one welded in its place. 63484
