Troubleshooting Trailer Turn Signals Not Working With 2015 Nissan Xterra

Hello. Im in dire need of help. I have a new wire harness for a 4 way hook up on my trailer. Im connecting to a 4 and 7 way plug that is on an 05 xterra. Both power converter and plug are u haul brand... But everything works fine except when I plug trailer into vehicle, then the turn signals blink once and quit. I have all other lights connected and working. Turn signals on vehicle work without the trailer. I included pics of setup. I did a 2nd ground underneath the rear of the trailer so I could splice all the lights into the exsisting wire that had been cut.

It sounds like the issue is that your trailer ground connection needs to be bare metal to metal and there are often multiple ground points on a trailer. There is a common ground and then there is often a ground at each tail light. They are often grounded through the mounting hardware if there is not a separate ground wire. Since everything except the turn signals are working, it is very likely there is a ground issue, but there is also a slight chance there is a relay issue on your vehicle.

I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test your turn signals at your vehicle trailer connection. If there is not a consistent turn signal blink, then a blue relay # 38666-1 in your wiring harness is likely to blame.
